‘The Day of the Dead’: Animals Who Died at Marine Parks

I’m glad that SeaWorld listened to the public outcry and ended its orca-breeding program and agreed to stop making trainers stand on dolphins’ faces and ride on their backs in circus-style shows, but I’m disturbed that other dolphins and whales are still being exploited as breeding machines to create generations of animals suffering in concrete tanks at your parks.

The only logical next step is to make the humane decision to stop breeding all dolphins and whales and relocate them to seaside sanctuaries. Please do right by them by giving them some semblance of a natural life outside the prison-like tanks and replacing them with state-of-the-art virtual reality and animatronic exhibits that will engage young people and adults alike. Let SeaWorld be known for truly having had a change of heart and putting the needs of animals first.
