Jeffersonville, Ohio – Drivers en route to the 2022 Destination Outlets World Pumpkin Pie Eating Championship next weekend are about to be served a “vegan pie in the sky” from PETA via a gigantic message encouraging everyone to choose animal-friendly vegan fare this autumn and afterward.

“It’s as easy as pie to eat vegan and satisfy a sweet tooth while leaving hens and mother cows in peace,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is ready with free vegan starter kits, recipes, and more to help everyone win a gold ribbon for kindness by opting for vegan cuisine.”

Not only is vegan food free of saturated animal fat and cholesterol, it also spares animals immense suffering. For example, in the dairy industry calves are torn away from their mothers shortly after birth, and in the egg industry parts of chickens’ beaks are cut off with a hot blade when they’re just a few days old. Every person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals a year daily suffering and a terrifying death, and PETA offers a free vegan starter kit—plus recipes for pumpkin and apple pies, among other autumnal treats—on its website.

PETA’s billboard is located alongside I-71, just northeast of Destination Outlets.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat or abuse in any other way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
