VIDEO: Bull Escapes Utah Rodeo, Injuries Reported

Shocking video uploaded to Facebook shows a bull escaping from a rodeo at a Utah county fair in August 2023. According to reports, the frightened animal ran into a parking lot, where he injured the family members of the state’s lieutenant governor.

Don’t Forget the Real Victims of Rodeos: Animals

Rodeo performers have frequently been observed beating, kicking, and shocking normally docile bulls and other animals in holding pens—abuse they inflict in order to provoke bulls’ instinct to flee from harm. It’s no wonder that by the time bulls are released into an arena, they’re frantic.

Rodeos are rubbish throwbacks to days when cowboys amused themselves out in the middle of nowhere by tormenting animals. They’re dangerous to bulls, horses, and humans, and in 2023 there are certainly more civilized ways to entertain ourselves, without harming a soul.

Many bulls forced to participate in rodeos have sustained fatal injuries, including broken backs and necks, and have experienced heart attacks or aneurysms. Even the ones not killed during events often still meet a vicious death: When they’re too old or worn out to continue being used for these shows, “retirement” often means a one-way trip to the slaughterhouse.

Never support rodeos, bull riding, or any other activity that exploits animals. If a rodeo does come to your town, write letters to sponsors, leaflet at the gate, or hold a demonstration.

You can contact PETA for help, too.

Want to do more for bulls exploited by humans for entertainment?

Every year, thousands of bulls endure a bloody death in bullrings across Spain. Compassionate people understand that bullfighting involves needless and unjustifiable violence, and opposition to this cruel, bloody spectacle is growing both within Spain and around the world. It’s time for the Spanish government to protect animals. Please sign our petition to the prime minister calling for a national ban on bullfights and bull runs:
