St. Louis – PETA supporters armed with a massive horse puppet will cause a ruckus outside the Budweiser Brew House in Ballpark Village during Wednesday’s home game to urge the beer maker to end its shameful practice of severing the tailbones of the Clydesdales. PETA’s horse heroes will screen footage from the group’s new investigation into Anheuser-Busch–owned ranches that shows the distressed Clydesdales frantically and incessantly flicking the remnants of their amputated tails as they try in vain to brush away biting, disease-spreading insects under the hot sun.

When:    Wednesday, August 30, 12:30 p.m.

Where:    Budweiser Brew House, 601 Clark Ave., #101 (at the intersection with S. Broadway), St. Louis

“Budweiser has turned the Clydesdales into insect buffets, causing them extreme physical pain and stress,” says PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo. “They’re unable to fend off barrages of bites, and there is no excuse for it. PETA is calling on Budweiser to back off and let the Clydesdales keep their tails.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
