Joanna Krupa’s Violent Mugging Video Is … a PETA Campaign!

Los Angeles – Model Joanna Krupa caused a stir on Instagram after posting a video of a man punching her, knocking her to the ground, and robbing her of a sweater, and today, the former Real Housewives of Miami star is sharing the backstory behind the graphic clip: It belongs to a PETA campaign highlighting the plight of sheep who really are assaulted for their wool. Prompting responses such as “this is something painful to see” and “I’m so shocked how people just walked by,” the video has already been viewed over 1 million times.

“Wool is not just a haircut for sheep. It’s shocking to me the cruelty that goes on,” the longtime vegan explains in an exclusive video interview. “These workers get paid for the weight of the wool. So they get impatient with these sheep, ’cause the sheep are scared. They kick ’em, they punch them, they cut them.”

Urging fans to “get with the program” and make their closets animal-free, Krupa reveals that the sweater she wore in the mugging video was vegan and points out that shoppers can find similar items just by examining labels. “[Y]ou still feel beautiful, glamourous, and you don’t have that weight on your shoulder that some precious animal had to die.”

PETA has released 14 exposés documenting workers’ cruelty to sheep—including punching them in the face and cutting off swaths of their skin—at 117 wool industry operations on four continents. Eco-friendly, vegan clothing options are kinder to sheep and the planet, as they avoid wool industry pollutants, which contaminate the air, water, and land.

Krupa is part of a long list of celebrities—including Elisabetta Canalis, Penélope Cruz, Jenna Dewan, Taraji P. Henson, Eva Mendes, Olivia Munn, and Alicia Silverstone—who have helped PETA promote humane wardrobe choices.
